Castelvecchio Museum

Castelvecchio is the largest and most magnificent work of ancient architecture in Verona besides the Amphitheatre.
Built by Cangrande II in 1354 when the whole Court thought it prudent to move the main residence outside the city-centre, it is the nowaday Museum of sculptures, bronze bells, frescoes, paintings and arms that, together with the history of Verona will be explained by the tourist guide.
It was always used for military purposes and some alterations have been made to the original structure.
In the middle of the last century the great Venetian architect Carlo Scarpa restored the entire castle organizing a modern fruition of space.
